I didn't even know

that Whymper had been to the Dolomites, but it seems he didn't climb any mountains there!

Hi, Whymper's main work was to engrave pictures. Most of the time he did that from sketches made by others. Anyway he spent more more time, to travel on feet from one valley to another, use horse cars and trains in the alps, than to climb. He was curious and was searching sceneries to engrave as well as searching for discover main mountains.
After 1865 he stops climbing main summits in the alps, but spent a lot of time in mountains until 1911.
