Drum et al  Sucess!

The forecast called for 50% chance of scattered showers after noon so I thought I'd take a chance so I could get Drum with cool temps. Well, rain was wide spread, and started just as I was parking at 9am. I did Drum HP then ridge walked to 7233, Drum BM, and 6795 and then back to car. Lots of ups and downs. I hadn't realized how big the dip was between Drum HP and 7233 until I got there. The ridge was pretty straight forward and by skirting peaks on the way back, the total elevation gain was just over 5000'. Peak 6460 to the SW looks very interesting and I look forward to coming back and doing it.

Drum Mountain   Sucess!

Very warm April day on this desert peak. I could not imagine doing this peak any later in the season. From the highpoint I saw an obvious cairn on the point a little less than a 1/4 mile to the south so I went over there as well to check it out. The first point you get to is the highpoint despite the cairn. I scoured both high points but could find no summit register.

Drum  Sucess!

I liked this area too. The summit is on the north side of the ridge but a large cairn is on the point farther south which looks higher but isn't.
