goofball climbing the second dryfall in the canyon approach to Fire Peak (a.k.a. Longwell Peak). This dryfall is class-4 and about 20 feet high. The "crux" is the smooth rock at the bottom, which makes for an off-balance, awkward start. There is a bit of a squeeze near the top, but the climbing is easy enough to do it unprotected. (I like to wear a helmet on such things, though.) 31 August 2008.
