Parked at Aetna Springs trailhead and did Duff, High Point and Potato Hill. Tried Browns HIll on the way out but were turned back by impenetrable brush 200 feet short of the summit.
A black brear crossed the road in front of us on Aetna Springs Road on the drive out.
5 Peak day, Bald-High Point-Potato-Grassy-Duff. The scramble to Duff was fun, found the Benchmark buried under a thin layer of dirt. TR is HERE.
From the Aetna Springs Road Trailhead.....hiked up to Sugarloaf Mountain, then to High Point, then Grass Hill and finished with Duff, which had no register unfortunately. The three other peaks have registers. Sugarloaf and High Point involve bushwacking. 15 miles, gorgeous Fall colors and weather.
Hit this one along with Bald Hill. I started up the bushwack to the Palisades but given the still lingering case of poison oak from my earlier attempt at Little Blue, I wimped out. Beautiful winter day.
Duff makes a good scramble before heading down Oat Hill Mine Road.
