Quick hike from the little basin trail
I went out there with a buddy of mine. It was a good first hike of the year.
Thought it would be a nice afternoon hike, wound up being really short. Great weather, though.
WENT INTO FIRE TOWER, WINDY AND WISPY CLOUDS, COOL SANDSTONE
Nice Loop From Little Basin up trail by really cool footbridge (originally built w/ no metal, only pegs). Loop down fireroads to Scott Creek and up Tanbark trail to Buzzard's Roost and Pine Mtn. Then loop through Big Basin SP back around to tanBark trail to Little Basin. Little basin is now owned by Sepirviren's fund. I went through without problems, you can check-in with the caretaker I'm told.
Nice quick climb to fantastic views. It'd be a lot better without the dilapidated fire tower marring the wilderness, but oh well. Did some fun scrambling too, including to a small cavernously-weathered cave on the west face.
I did it before you guys
Hiked it with Rad. The view was better than I remembered it to be. Did some scrambling around too.
