I've only approached this route from the top of Red where I couldn't find any suitable way down the rock buttress. An alternative when coming from this direction is to follow the top of the buttress down and off the ridge (south). From here you can down climb class 4 (maybe low 5th) to get off the buttress. From here what I have done both times is traverse on talus to a fairly easy slab at the top of which you can traverse more talus & boulders to get to the Kendall Katwalk trail (short 3rd class to top out on the trail). I would not attempt this in wet conditions.
