Early April, road mostly dry but still a little muddy in places.
Pleasant road hike, beautiful day, good view of Squaw Mountain to the north from the summit.
Nice pleasant hike. Good views over the valley and down to CA and Preston Peak.
It was a beautiful day for a hike. I was a little worried about a 7 mile RT, for my 8 year old son, but he was fine. 2 hours up 1 hour down, piece of cake.
Not impressed at all, you hike on a road for a few miles up and there are no significant views on top, then backtrack.
Was in the area for a mtn bike race and rode/hike a biked up (50/50). I'd say the average grade is 15% with sections near the top around 20%. Good views from the summit, esp. to the SW. Most of the road is quite rough and loose but doable for anyone with good bike handling skills. Up in 1:30, down in 15 minutes.
I was looking for Ni laterites to analyze for Pt, Pd, Ir and Au. Carried a shovel, 4-lb hammer, mapping Brunton, and lots of other junk. I stayed at the house of a friend who lived on the S base of the mountain; I just walked out his back door to the old road (actually an active mine road at that time).
Road hike in the rain. Still a nice hike.
May 18, 2003 hiked to the summit from the Green Bridge cross country.
