Beautiful day
Absolutely perfect sky conditions, the hills around the mountain were sunny and warm while it was still quite brisk with a solid amount of snow up towards the peak.

A decent mount of snow up top still. Fun day with good company :)

windy
went up the ramp from Harkness Lakes. very straightforward (class 2 walkup) but windy. The traverse over to Cottonwood took awhile. I think dropping off the summit of eighteenmile toward the northwest initially and then regaining the ridge is the least exposed way to get over to Cottonwood

Northeast ramp from Harkness Lake camp
Love them wide open spaces! Nice walkup, hardly even cl.3. If you want wide ranging vistas and solitude, maybe this one should be on your list.

The completely open hike was nice. Great views too.
Just a quick stop in for the night on my way home and I was blown away by the beauty and remoteness of this area! Big Sheep Creek is an amazing canyon and gateway to this part of the Beaverheads. Thanks to the rancher at Willow Creek for assuring me I was on the right track to Harkness Lakes. What a night! : No trees around - no one but myself, the dogs, the cows, and the big fighting cuttys. An excellent evening of fishing and a sagebrush campfire under the brilliant stars. There is amazing power in wide open places like this. And Eighteenmile Peak itself is pretty all right, too. I most definitely approve!

Winter Storm Warning!!
Did this hike in the face of a winter storm warning. High winds and blowing snow left awesome drifts and low visibility. The climb was amazing non-the-less and with sleds the real fun was tobogganing back out.

Winter climb
High winds and low visibility made for a hell of an adventure. Cleared up near the summit absolutely gorgeous

Northeast ramp
Can't remember exactly when I climbed it. I was a around 12 years old. We saw a huge heard of elk cross the bench before the northeast ramp.

Wide open country describes this one - certainly my favorite terrain. Great scenery from start to finish.
