As dead as the dead one
We cycled from Tres cruces to just before Atacama refugio on the Chilean side where we made our camp. From here it took 5 1/2 hours to climb the 1400m to the top. Crampons were needed from 5900m as there was a lot of fresh snow.

A big mountain...
Started at 5am from a camp at 5100m. Long and tiring day over sandy slopes and sliding boulders. We did not reach the summit, albeit came close to it: 6300m. Changing weather and low energy levels forced us to retreat at 1pm. Terrible sun during the descent, light levels almost untenable, rendered blinding by snow reflection. Tremendous views of the Tres Cruces massif and Vicunas and Barrancas Blancas Mountain...
A rarely climbed mountain, with a desert-type base camp very close to the Atacama base camp for Ojos del Salado, complete isolation, incredible landscapes. The feeling of adventure is total!

El MuertoLate start. Gremo was trail breaking most of the day. Corax was looking for steep ground on the glaciers. Demanding snow in some parts. Very happy to reach the summit plateau. A certain company had placed an attaché case on the summit, in where you could find a flashy summiteer's log book. The views of a completely snow covered Incahuasi was exceptional.
