Hi Chad,
No, I don't think this is an elk ranch. I have seen this area totally empty, elks and cattle living side by side and just cattle. I think the fence is to keep the animals from walking onto the highway. But, I think ranchers feed them to encourage them to hang around. Anyway, I cannot be totally sure what the deal is hear.

not an elk ranch

the elk can easily jump that fence. An elk ranch would have an 8-10 foot fence to keep the elk in. And I hesitate to say it but the plural of elk is elk.

Yes, I totally agree, this is not an elk ranch. I have seen this field totally empty.

if that were in Idaho, you may have seen wolves not too far behind the elk. Of course the elk wouldn't be standing there posing for the pic though.
