Elk Thistle near Tyndall Creek

There were quite a few Elk thistles(Cirsium foliosum) among the wildflowers in Tyndall Creek. This picture doesn't quite capture the size of the thing, but look at the paintbrush in the picture for comparison. They look pretty nasty along the trail. They're also a non-native plant in the park. August 2009.
