Sunset was amazing
The climb was great. Much different than any mountain/peak that I have climbed to date. Views were also 100% different. It just goes to show that no mountain is the same. Loved it and suggest anybody that goes to Big Bend NP goes to Emory Peak.
Scramble is a blast for sure.
Along with the South Rim Loop. With Krista. Love the Chisos Mountains.
Somehow I did not sign this before; discovered this doing research for a friend headed to Big Bend.
Beautiful views of the entire park and valley. Fun scrambling near the top. If there is one hike you do in Big Bend, this would be one to consider.
Made the top.
Started the outer mountain loop, temp dropped to the 40s and pouring rain changed our minds. Got to the top of Emory and headed back down for warmth!
Climbed with the Big Bend Boys via Pinnacle Route. I beat them all to the top. Nice easy half-day hike with great views into Mexico!
Via Pinnacles Trail. Busy summit on a beautiful day.
2013 with Jessie
Nice long day, via Laguna meadow to the rim and down into boot canyon, up Emory and back down pinnacles. Was my second trip up. Great weather. Takin my wife next time
great views into Mexico and back into Texas.
Climbed with Kelly on a visit back to the homestate. It was a fun scramble to the top. I am looking forward to more Big Bend summits sometime in the future!
Saw big black bear as we drove down towards the campsite. Great weather for camping and hiking. Scramble at the summit was fun. Stood 15 ft from a mule deer, watching it eat and roam, pretty cool.
Climbed this in memory of a friend who loved Big Bend National Park. Nice hike to the base of the summit, interesting scramble to the top.
Hiked up, the scramble is shorter and easier than I thought, nice tho. Camped out the south east rim and out the next day. Great sunrises & sunsets!
Rangers were apparently doing a small controlled burn up high. The air near the summit was a little smoky, but the views were great!
day 3 of a 4 day backpack. We kept the mileage low on this beautiful March weekend so we could really meander and take in all the sights of the High Chisos. Laguna Meadows; Southwest Rim to Boot Canyon to Northeast Rim; back down Boot to Emory Peak trail; scramble to the USGS marker; then down the Pinnacles trail to the car. Emory was certainly one of the most breathtaking highlights.
This was a cold spell in January -- probably below 32F the whole time; it had been only 11F the previous morning. The day was clear and the views were wonderful.
Started early in the morning and made it to the summit in good time. We continued to the south rim and it ended up being an very enjoyable day hike. During the trip to Big Bend we saw nine javelinas.
