End of the trail
This makeshift wood and rock cairn marks the end of the trail on the Thompson Canyon route to Big Hatchet Peak (elev. 8,354 ft.) in the Boot Heel of New Mexico. From this point, head north up the slope to gain the ridge leading to Big Hatchet's summit. Photo taken 2/23/08.
