Backpack
Short little backpacking trip during some turbulent weather in TNF from Carr Lake TH. On the second morning we woke to blue skies and enjoying a beautiful hike up the southeast ridge to this peak. The flag pole up top played host to some old underwear and t-shirts, kinda gross. Hard to count how many lakes you can make out from this peak! Views north to the Sierra Buttes and Mount Elwell, east to Granite Chief were highlights from the top.
Cross country from Carr Lake TH. Dropped down to Feeley Lake on the way back...big mistake: major bushwhack!

Lingering snow
Drove as far as I could on FR 17, which was about a mile before Carr Lake until the road was completley blocked by lingering snow. It was still a very easy hike, the snow was firm, so I was not post holing at all and even found a small use trail making its way up to the summit on the upper slopes. Great view and isolation. I was the only person around, which I'm sure is very different once summer gets underway.

Consolation peak
I went to go hiking around the lakes but was stymied by snow so I chose to climb this nearby peak instead. I found out later that is is named. It has an excellent view of the many lakes in the area and of Sierra Buttes to the north.

SE Ridge
Really nice hike in a great area. The peak was very easy but fun. The views were great. There was still a surprising amount of snow even at this low elevation. I also tagged Grouse Ridge.
