Fat and Frisky..

Okay, I like to kid around. But, not when I spied this critter. The Arizona Black Rattlesnake is often called a "timber rattler" because it is often found in the higher elevations/mountainous regions amongst conifer trees. Stumbled upon this one at 7,200 feet, high on the south side of Mingus Mountain near Jerome, Arizona. The heavy monsoon rains scared it out of its burrow. August 7, 2010

Re: Horrible!!

Yep, it gave me "nightmares" during the day!

Tack! I think it had just eaten its meal,
so I wasn't too worried. : )
