Feel Free

Feel Free

Looking up the steep first pitch of Feel Free (II 5.8/5.9+) Finger of Fate, Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho This pitch leads to 3 or more variations that finish below the tunnel and final summit block. The original route went to the left-most corner and includes a 10 foot horizontal traverse (rated 5.8 at the time) with a no-handhold step to a waist high flake for the crux. The 5.9 variation (to the right of the traverse) goes directly over the fist sized overhanging jam crack. The 5.9+ variation stays right of both of the above variations and follows small face holds with a fingertip lieback (5.9+) for the crux. Note: Our ratings of this route were based upon the standards that existed in the 70s.
