NICE shotMay I ask, as a new hiker and one who is very...well...respectful of these giants...what kind of bear this is?
I know I need to get out more...and be less of a chicken when it comes to bears (and wolves and coyotes and mountain lions and...well, you get the point). Heck, I'd rather do a nice steap climb over a knife's edge that meet one of these creatures!
But, boy aren't they majestic!

Re: NICE shotThis is the brown bear - not necessarily brown in color - Ursus arctos arctos, something between the grizzly and the baribal in terms of how dangerous it can be, probably closer to the baribal:) but I don't know enough about US bears to vouch for that (see Adygaz's reply to my question about the number of accidents)

M-am uitat pe profilul tau. Apoi ai multi munti la activ.
Nu pot sa-ti urez decat Keep on. Iar pentru ca vin sarbatorile, iti doresc un Craciun frumos si un an nou plin de reusite.
Poate ne intersectam si noi pe undeva la anu'...

QuestionHello,
I plan on hiking the Bucegi in early-October. What should one do when encountering a Brown Bear. Most of my encounters have been with Grizzly. Is there a different method?
Bryce
