Re: Do you know...The guy leading is my father. His second appears to be a woman - then it is most probably Lotte Steyer, one of his main climbing partners (they were always just good friends and I knew her well.)

I really like your old pictures, theyr'e a like glimpse into climbing history. I try to imagine what it was like back then, with crude climbing gear and such. Not to mention that so few people did that sort of thing in those days, Do you know how your father got started climbing?

Re: Do you know...His parents, my grandparents, were into hiking. They lived in Dresden, very close to the Elbsandstein area. Dad was very athletic and skiing and climbing were passions from when he was a young boy. I have lots more of these - just need to figure out when, where and who as well as scan them.
