This was our first view of the Stone Sentinel as we continued our hike into the Horcones Valley.

Beautiful valley

I still remember that view when I walked through that valley nearly 3 years ago. Thanks for bringin' me back.

Re: Beautiful valley

I loved the first half of the hike - the second half was like walking across the moon for us until you get close to Plaza de Mules. It was a good warm up for the climb though. We did the hike out in a single push - that was a good time.

Re: Beautiful valley

I agree. The hike out as a single push is the way to go. I put on my headphones at Mulas and then blissfully slogged out all the way to the pavement.

Re: Nice view!

I think our treck in there was about a year before yours. We went in February 2001. It was a great trip - I'd like the head back in as well and do a lot more climbing.

Re: Nice view!

No joke - that thing (the south Face) didn't look very friendly, either at the bottom looking up, or from the summit looking down.
