Well many people think this white scarf is a corsican local item, but the reality is different, historically the symbol was a black head with the same scarf over the eyes, the head being a decapitated Moorish invader !
by the way, that would be cool to attach this great report to the Corsica area page ;)

So, this Moorish head with his eyes and ear made free became a symbol of the sovereignty fight of the Corsican people...(I guess)

Not exavtly... the symbol was misunderstood for decades and slowly transformed into this head of man with open eyes and scarf around the forehead
