Great trek. If you hike to Flattop Mountain press on to Hallett Peak and enjoy the wider perspective/view.
Traverse of Flat top, Hallett and Otis and decend down Andrews Glacier to the Loche. Was a very rewarding day since all my regular climbing buddies were working and couldn't do anything more technical. Turned out to be a great day in the mountains.
Some sleet along the way, fun hike.
On the way to Hallet peak
Have climbed this to get to Snowdrift in 1974, and Hallet/Otis in 2000.
Hike to Taylor Peak with my hiking buddy Marco. We didn't spend much time there: I took a picture of Hallett Peak, and then we continued on to Taylor.
Took the standard route on a beautiful day.. still heaps of snow up to the tree line. Lots of beautiful views and fauna to enjoy along the way.
Dragons Tail Couloir in great snow conditions. Strolled over to the summit the Flattop in a thick peak soup after topping out.
Fun warmup to acclimatize for 14ers
Great climb- lot's of really fun routes up this thing, would like to come back and try some of them out. Really really windy! and great views.
quick climb up the snow and back down the trail. Great weather
My nemesis! This mountain has put me to shame when I wasn't ready for it.
Took off from Bear Lake and hit snow after about 45 mins. Followed the tracks of others, but I was not ready to be in the mountains, physically. Worked up to a nice bend overlooking Dream Lake and went back. Wasn't really hoping to make the top. As with any hike/climb in the Rockies, magnificent view!
Flattop was the first peak of the day. We continued to Ptarmigan Point, Notchtop, Knobtop, and Gabletop. We started from Bear Lake and descended through Tourmaline Gorge to Odessa Lake and then to Fern Lake trailhead. Windy conditions all day on the divide with dark clouds but no lightning.
Meetup.com hike to Hallett Peak. We took the Flattop Trail. We paused for a few on Flattop, then continued on to Hallett Peak.
Dragon's Tail, which was barely in. The Tooth wasn't. Super-windy and cold on top. Trip report.
Fun ski down the north combined with Hallett
Beautiful day on the way to Hallett as a warm up for Long's
We have pikas in the sierra but nowhere near as many. Fun to hear and see the cute little buggers everywhere.
