Flower of European Black Elderberry

Flower of European Black Elderberry

European Black Elderberry ( Sambucus nigra ) are common on the slopes of Mount Chyrowa in the Low Beskid. In Polish language these plants are often called "hyczki". Because they are so abundant here, one of the entire glades below Mount Chyrowa was called "Hyczki". The Low Beskid - June 2007.

Re: Hmmm

Thank you for your comment. In Poland, we pick the flowers and fruits of elderberry and dry them for tea. It is belived that elderberry tea prevents common cold. I will go back to the place where I saw these flowers in autumn and take a picture of the fruits.

Thank you Barbara. I am very happy that my photo brought good memories. My Mom also used to make juice from elderberry fruits. My Dad in turn used to make liquors and drank them as a prevention from the flu.
