Silene urulensis

Called Polar Campion in English. This is the purple flower. Grows in dry places and flowers late summer (late July-early August)on Svalbard. The other leaves in focus are Dryas octopetala (Mountain Avens) also common in dry places.
Lolli- Eriophorum scheuchzeri does indeed grow in wet places but looks quite different- like a cotton wool ball on a green stem.
Very nice picture Simon, well done, better than any I took that day.

Lolli & Elisabeth, thank you for the identification! Goldie, if your are satisfied with the information received, please detach your picture from the Unidentified flora and fauna album within the next week so that the album remain 'fresh'. Thanks.
