Fossil Trunk

Fossil Trunk

This tree was squished after it was deposited by the weight of the sediment on top of it. This would have been quite a large tree! Puercan in age, this was found in the badlands near Farmington, NM. Feb, 2007.

Re: Gross!

How is this gross? It is aweseome! We found this in the badlands of New Mexico, which is pretty much a desert. This same area was a huge tropical forest in the Torrejonian! That is cool!

Re: Gross!

Ouch. I don't know why you have to be so shallow! The focus of the picture is on the fossil tree, people are just for scale. Also, she is not my girlfriend, just someone in the class. The dog just happened to be there, I actually didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

Re: Gross!

This comment chain has become quite large, and I am pretty sure that there are several inside jokes in it. Let's just say it is not the best photo, but a good shot to show the fossil tree.
