Anya please...

Probably get asked this a lot, but what is the aperature (F-stop) on the camera you use for these remarkable close-ups? How about the zoom? I'm looking at some Olympus Stylus digital zoom cameras, but still undecided as to which one to get. I love the greens and purples in this photo! You must have a great camera to capture these tiny annuals ... vivid colours and beauty!!!

Re: Anya please...

Larry, if you get Olympus Stylus, the best is to use the Macro option for your flower close-up. This will tell your camera to choose a large aperture automatically.
Stylus are good pocket cameras. Henry has one. Make sure it has an optical zoom. Digital zooms are useless.

Btw, for this Phacelia shot the aperture was F/2.8. The maximum optical zoom on my camera is x10.

To get the "juicy" colors I simply have my Olympus set up to "Saturation + 1" ;)
The rest is all about finding good angles and great light (I don't like completely overcast weather. I tend not to go out on days like that at all unless I'm desperate for some exercise).

What camera are you using now?

The camera I have

been using up to this point is completely out-of-date and nearly obsolete as far as technological advances are concerned. I even have a difficult time finding a battery for it. Looks like a new
pocket-sized Olympus would be the way to go!
Thanks... it must be evident to you that I'm using too much saturation in the photoShop. I'm striving for the more NATURAL appearence that you have in your photos. In other words, you are my mentor as far as photography is concerned. : )
