500 ft mistake  Sucess!

Climbed on a gorgeous early fall day with Don Scharff. We had no problem finding the start of "the correct goat trail" Just above the overlook. The traverse across the shale was fairly crappy footing, but we got to the ridge on the opposite side of the slope with out incident. Here I misremembered or maybe misread the route description and descended looking for a route across the face. There was none. We went back up the ridge to where it meets the cliffs an d easily crossed to the ridge leading to the summit of Grinnel. Returned via the Swiftcurrent glacier basin. the glacier has retreated to the point that it is not necessary to walk on it unless you want to.

Grinnell Point?  Sucess!

Well, Im not sure if we really climbed Mount Grinnell, but we did summit something up and left from the unnamed pass above the highline. Grinnell Point maybe? Either way, it was fantastic class 3 negotiating up to a spectacular summit. Made the highline loop totally worthwhile. Climbed with Tim, Mike Rush, and Sarah (and of course Aqua Tony, Creamsicle Terry, Glacier Gary, Ledgewalking Larry, Lava Bob, Land-Loving Jim, Ridgewalking Reggie and Routefinding Rob).
