Fury ON Fortification Hill

Fury ON Fortification Hill

Witnessed a storm blowing across Nevada's Lake Mead, while on my way to the Valley of Fire State Park. Actually, the wind was blowing 65+ miles per hour, creating waves on the surface of the lake and leaving a dusting of snow on nearby desert peaks. The "islands" you see here are called the "Devil's Paint Pots." A "Beach Boys" tune soon rang inside my head : "Early in the morning we'll be startin' out, Some honeys will be coming along. We're loading up our woody, With our boards inside; And heading out singing our SONG ..." December 31, 2010

Re: lovelly

Thank you so kindly ..

I think I might have went "overboard" on the
focus, but I wanted to capture the whitecaps.

I didn't have to touch the water to determine
it was as cold as ice. But, TWICE as nice.

Good Photo

I must say it looks like a good photo, although not to be a picky critique but the original sized photo seems to have some noise to it. What camera settings were you using?

Re: Good Photo

You're right! It has more NOISE than a
warped "Beach Boys" album.

I think I added too much sharpness in Picasa.

The wind was coming in from the north at 65
(plus) miles per hour, so I had to think very
quickly to capture what I did, and I didn't
have time to set up a tripod.

Re: Good Photo

Wow, forgot to read that part. You did well for the given conditions. I use picasa as well, although when getting rid of noise I used photoshop elements 6 (perhaps a older model but still decent).

Re: Good Photo

Yeah, I'll post one more and see how it turns
out ..

It was a memorable day, regardless of the
wind blowing in my face and knocking me down
on the ground, with sand blowing into my ears
and making my Life interesting.
