Hiked Lee Ridge Trail to Gable Pass, bypassed Nanaki and Papoose to climb Chief Mountain and camped at Slide Lake that night. Gable next day via Otatso Lake. Hiked out on Day 3 back to Lee Ridge TH. Completed the Skyline the next day, from Siyeh Bend to Many Glacier Hotel.

Gable Mountain
Hiked the old road across the Blackfeet Reservation and camped two nights at the Slide Lake backcountry campsite. Climbed Gable by staying on the north side of the drainage to avoid wading. A nice summit day with great views.

Climbed with Vern Ingraham on 2nd attempt. Biked in from Chief Mtn Hwy to park boundary and hiked to summit. Bike crash on return punctured bear spray causing excitement and a quick dip in the nearby stream!!!

from Slide Lake
Hiked in to Slide Lake from Lee Ridge and camped at the backcountry site on June 15. Left camp around 8am the following morning and headed for the Van Pelt mining ruins west of Slide Lake. Detoured south around the massive falls on Otatso Creek. From there, we followed the creek for a bit, forded, then made our way towards Gable. After ascending to a broad ridge top that extends south and east from the summit, the route up the south face became very obvious. Took about 6 1/2 hours to summit. Incredibly windy on top, but what a view! Retraced our steps and returned to camp around 7pm. Hiked out to our car at Lee Ridge Trailhead, with a late evening thunderstorm catching us as we made it off the ridge and down into the forest. Out around 11pm. Long, but fantastic day.
