Drive up (in my Camry)  Sucess!

My wife and I stopped here before heading down to Cass and the NRAO. We hiked the interpretive loop trail through the virgin forest and then headed up to the picnic area and strolled around the loop through the old growth up there. The green was hard to believe and the pictures do not do it justice.

Drove up Gaudineer today to see what type of damage the heavy wet snow that fell a couple of weeks ago did. To my suprise, there were relatively few trees down. One big one across the road up to the summit. Didn't hang around much becuase it was getting dark, and hunting season starts tomorrow so all the animals are out running around tonight.

Route Climbed: Forest Service Road 27A Date Climbed: October 2003  Sucess!

We drove up on our October 2003 camping trip to Seneca State Forest. I'd heard about the spruce forest up there and wanted to see it. We were treated to a fresh snowfall that had hit during the night. It was great to walk around in this healthy spruce forest unaffected by the acid rain that has destroyed so much of the spruce forests in NC where we live.
