Hi Sierra Ledge Rat,
I have never really been true backpacking before but my friend and I are thinking about going in late March. We are both young and athletic college students and capable of taking care of ourselves but we do not know much about this backpacking stuff. Do you think we could make this 5 day trip?
In March, anything in the Sierra would be a full-on serious winter trip with serious avalanche danger. I would wait until June for anything in High Sierra. In March, the snow in the Mono Recesses will be about 10 to 20 feet deep.
