After some misty, overcast conditions and light rain the day before, our trek back to the trailhead was beautiful. This shot of Glacier Peak was taken just before descending over a ridge and back onto the N. Fork Sauk River trail. August 2007.

That's some awesome

country! I'm glad you made it back.
Tell me, did you see any goats?
I hope Washington state gets some
decent snowpack, to BEEF UP these
glaciers - sometimes a ramp of snow
makes climbing so much easier.

One goat, who promptly trotted into the middle of a small snowfield and lay down (he was hot I suppose). We had stopped for a snack, watched him, he watched us, when we went on our way he was still laying there (and blending in quite nicely I might add, if he hadn't been moving when we first spotted him I doubt we would have).
