Great summit views and Copper Creek trail was more pleasant than I expected.
First time with Dave McLaughlin via northwest ridge from Copper Creek and Munger Pass. My first climb of a real alpine mountain.
Second time: May 30, 1976. Same route; different partner.
Third time: May 10, 1981. Solo south to north traverse via Peak 11874.
While the hike in and the climb don't have much to recommend this peak, the summit views are your reward which accounts for it being a SPS peak.
From Road's End. From Grouse Lake the peak appears to be at the south end of the summit ridge, but it's actually at the north end, topped by a small cairn.
Morning of day 2 of 7-day backpack. Trip report.
Nice scrambling blocks up / scree chute down. First peak of a quick Monarch Divide trip that included Goat, State, Kennedy, and Harrington.
First of three peaks bagged on a weekend camping trip up to Grouse Lake.
Nice dayhike with Steve. Trip Report
Hiked up the 2nd weekend after Roads End opened up and camped solo at Grouse Lake. The trail was mostly snow free until 7500 feet, and solid coverage above 9000 feet. Perfect weather and views, and was lucky enough to see a bear nearby on the way down.
