Great loop! Golden Canyon is definitely more scenic than Gower Gulch.
did the loop, took my time, a nice half day.
Did the circuit with my son Evan from Golden Canyon, climbed Manly Beacon, and out Gower Gulch.
One of the top tourist hikes in the western U.S. I've added some scrambling spice on a few of my trips in the Golden Canyon-Zabriskie Point realm.
I'm glad Gimpilator talked us into going to this canyon which had many neat formations. One could spend days here traveling through all the different formations and ridges.
Hiked up to the base of the Red Cathedral via Golden Canyon. It was already very hot (>100F). My first time in this canyon but so many things to explore here. Will be back.
Been here 3 times now. This is by far the most awesome canyon I have ever seen. All the different colors and formations make it very stimulating for the eyes. The most fun I had here was running up all the side gullies, scrambling over loose rocks and squeezing my way up through small chimneys. Take the time ro climb Manly Beacon and Red Cathedral. They're worth it.
Red Cathedral is a perfect backdrop. Great at sunset. Death Valley is amazing.
First time was back in 1996, my first hiking in the West. I've been up Manly Beacon three times, Red Cathedral twice, some unnamed formations, and through both canyons as well as some of the side canyons. Beautiful place, always something new to discover.
Many years ago, I dropped down from Zabriskie Point and explored this area. Great stuff.
Beautiful desert scenery.
We enjoyed this canyon & exploring the side canyons. I was nervous watching Geoff scramble on some of the rock, er congealed mud, but he enjoyed it. Hiking there was like walking through geoloical time.
