Wow! One impressiverock! At first I was going to say "Dianas Throne, but I'm pretty sure it's not? I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time I'm out that way. 26 years ago the landscape may have looked entirely different? Could the picture have been taken from somewhere on another road and not from Hwy 89?

Re: Okay ...I wondered!? Parkas? Nope....here in Southern Utah, you'll only see folks shift out of their "hoody and shorts" if it gets to 10 Deg. Lest you forget that its one of the only places that in the morning on comes the furnace, in the afternoon on comes the AC and in the evening on comes the furnace again :)

Re: Okay ...I guess a lot of folks going to the
"big game" in Phoenix/Glendale will get
the impression that Arizona is completely
cactus & sunshine. Not true! The wife and
I just returned from Willow Springs Lake.
It was completely frozen over, and it can't
be more that 7,000 feet in elevation.

Re: Okay ...Thats up there pretty high! I sit at just over 2800 here in Ivins. Glendale? It's pretty low too isn't it? I'd rather be at 7000' in Willow Springs dealing with ice and snow, than in Phoenix dealing with the traffic and people thinking Arizona is all cactus and sunshine during the "big game". Cheers!

Re: Okay ...We think alike on that one! There are ways
to deal with snow, but traffic is a nightmare.
I'll be at home, eating a hotdog. I think
Glendale is at 1,090 feet above sea level.
Combined with Phoenix, it's now the 5th
largest city in the United States.

What ?You were born in Phoenix, Arizona?
I've met some really great people
from that area, over the last 15 years.
In 1995, I was working for Sequoia NP
in California. Maintenance stuff!

move and/or "relocation" to the Sedona area!
God willing.

Re: What ?I hear the "forces" are strong there?
When I was a little boy, (4yrs old) I remember (imagine that!) going to sliderock? in Oak Creek Canyon and sliding "Nakid" down the slide. We were the only ones there "circa 1960" and playing with the crawdads. I imagine it has changed with time as well. I have a friend that I climbed with and established routes with in Snow Canyon back in the early 90's, John Tainio, that lives in Sedona. Maybe we will hook up yet!

Re: Oh ... Bo?I don't know what this attraction is
between 'crawdads' and kids. It goes on
at the high lakes here in Arizona.
I finally think I'm in the right direction
in naming this rock! Looks like it might
be "Golden Throne" at Capitol Reef NP.
When you have Navajo and Carmel Sandstone
coming together, it often forms a "golden-
orange" coloured landform...
Kind of like what happens at Dairy Queen!

Golden ThroneLarry, that is definitely the Golden Throne in Capitol Reef NP. Compare it with these photos of the Golden Throne that I found: 1, 2, 3

Just kidding ... : - ))))
I really appreciate your help, Melinda!
Thank you very much.
You are awesome!
