Hi Dave:

I graduated from pushing broom already. Now I'm installing toilets and fighting leaks. Ms. May is keeping me for sure, mostly because she cannot get cheaper help anywhere...We do climb occasionaly too. What's new with you?

Deb and I going strong. Just waiting for her to get back from the Sandbox in March. I saw your reply to Misha regarding the Complete North Ridge of LPP. You got my complete interest. This is something that Deb and I might give a try. Do you still want to give it another try?

Dave: I don't think I will be trying this anytime soon in winter. I don't think it has been done in winter and for a good reason. It's totally diferent climb. It's a piece of cake in summer. Joe LeMay and I did it in summer all the way from the desert floor in 17 hours (to the summit where we bivied). Winter is entirely different story. The rock climbing on the upper ridge is mostly friction in summer, in winter the slabs are coated with ice and cracks are filled with it. It's much harder to climb that and with a pack, stove, bag, crampons and ice tool. It would be a challenge and a hell of a accomplishment for you two. If you feel like trying it, go for it. I have the description for the complete ridge on my SP site, I believe under ROUTES or on the main LPP site. Cheers, Alois.

Thanks for the good heads up. BTW, I intend on visiting you and Pen this winter (Jack as well). Deb is in Iraq as we speak (Al-Asad Airbase, in between Fallujah and Baghdad). She wants to hike San Juan. when she gets back as a climitization adjustment. I'll contact you next month to give you a heads up before coming up there in Iddy.
