Took the Government Trail into Grand Gulch in order to see the Big Man Panel. The Panel is a worthy destination but I am not sure I would do the hike again. The last part of the long drive to the trailhead is an ordeal and I ended up parking a quarter mile shy of the start. The 3 mile hike to the rim was fun in the fresh morning but much less fun in the warmer afternoon. The trail down into the Canyon was eventful - something snorted at me from one of the cave-like crevices. I did not tarry to determine what it was.
