Went on Bastille Day to the summit, very busy and windy at the top.
Was a nice walk upward. Top is visible from very far, so it takes you some time to get there.
From the distance it looks like al volcano when the summit is covered in snow. I went up with my wife during a nice autumn trekking in the Vosges.
Barely a hike due to the road!
went up with my girlfriend.
Visited on a climbing trip
I climb from St. Amarin town with my wife, reaching the summit at 13h30. After some recovery of energy we continue to the ski
station "Markstein" where we finish the hike with the fog already threatening.
2 ascents the same day with skis : one time from Glashutte and one from Ballon lake.
When the cloudsee covers the Alsatian plain, the summit of the Grand Ballon in the autumn sun looks like a paradise... and the view of the swiss Alps is fascinating.
