Grand "Defunct" Railroad

A lonely relic of the past, perhaps an old miner's cabin along a defunct railroad which extended north into the Kougarok Mining District, occupies a spot on the left bank of Alaska's Pilgrim River, about 50 miles northeast of Nome. The river flows into Salmon Lake, which is currently one of the westernmost sockeye salmon spawning lakes in North America, and is important to the culture, history and ongoing subsistence lifestyle of Seward Peninsula's Inupiat Eskimos. Looks,

Like it is in about the same condition as the cabin I use at out family hunt camp

Yeah, it's been that way for YEARS.

For some reason, the B.L.M. (who administers
the land) doesn't want to refurbish it ...

... or tear it down.
