Grandview Peak.

Grandview Peak.

This was taken from the summit of Lookout Peak, north west at Grandview. Definitely looks like a fun winter summit possibility. 1-08-2010.

How far?

Where would you start to climb Grandview? Would you go up City Creek? Those eastern slopes look very doable don't they? Great series of photos from Lookout by the way.

Re: How far?

Same question, this one is on my "to do" list.

Re: How far?

Great photo! You can’t see it, because of the snow, but a trail continues along the ridge farther right and out of the picture. After climbing Lookout Peak you can follow it toward the ridge that connects with Grandview Peak. It’s farther away than it looks but nothing more than class 2 hiking.

Re: How far?

I should've known that you would know about some obscure trail MG. So, do you think it would be doable in a day? The only "quick" way up this peak that I know of would be from the access road from the "B" above Bountiful. Thats not passable this time of year. City Creek would take forever, and I tried once from Rudy's Flat, but ran out of time. I'd like to snow shoe it from Lookout if possible.

Re: How far?

Yes, it is doable in a day. I used the Mountain Dell Canyon and Affleck Park approach to Lookout Peak. On the summit, I saw this route along the ridge that I mentioned. That is the way I am going to climb Grandview Peak next time. I was there in late May and there was still snow on the ridge between the two peaks.

Re: How far?

So who wants to go? Sounds like we all want too hit Grandview. There's a storm coming in this week, but I'm hearing its not going to be that bad.

Re: How far?

Just tried to snowshoe Grandview from Rudy's flat, and ran out of time. I will definitely be trying again this winter, just not sure which route...

Re: How far?

It's a long way from any route especially in winter!

Re: How far?

After hiking this bad boy in good weather, I was hammered! Can't imagine trying it on snowshoes. That would be along day! How far did you get?

Re: How far?

Gotta agree this is a long route, more so in winter. I did this peak from Big MTN pass, covering most of the distance on the mtn bike and it was still long.

Thought about maybe skinning up Lookout, then working my way to Grandview on skis and back. I can feel the blisters already...
