Great Beginnings (5.7)-- Second Part

My introduction to roped climbing in the great outdoors was on this route. I had no trouble with the first and third parts, but I fell off this one three times before finally getting it-- having a cute girl below watching me, even though she wasn't my wife, was sufficient to spur the pride enough. This move requires placing the hands in the crack, palms up, and pulling right while leaning well back-- quite awkward for a first-timer. When you reach the end of the section, you turn the corner, and the rest is straight up on a great crack. Great Falls, VA-- April 2007
