Just one hour out of Seattle and you can climb this mountain. It has a nice little pond on its slopes and used to have a fire tower so you can see a wide forested area.
Yes, that's about right, having just been there this weekend. And it's 13.5 miles of extra foot/bike/motorbike power to get from your car to the Green Mountain Trailhead now. The trail is starting to get overgrown already (fern is growing over the middle of the trail for long stretches).
Bummer! I hope the route is not abandoned by the time they get the road fixed. Green mountain has been on my to do list for a few years. I was going to head up there yesterday until I read the report.

Road closure update as of Sept. 2007Washed out at MP 12.6 and MP 13.0
Timber haul along first 4.1 miles; watch for log truck traffic.
Estimated repair for MP 12.6, MP 13, and MP 20.8 will be 2008/09
