The title of your report says first summit - was this your first state highpoint or first summit overall? Either way you enthusiasm for your trip made me want to go back to the Guadalupes.
First summit and highpoint - and you should definitely go back. It's an amazing place. Sadly, many people (even native Texans) don't know about it. On the upside you won't have to fight crowds.
Colorado 14ers are next. We're heading there in April.
Guadalupe is an awesome peak and it was better the second time around. GMNP never gets half the attention that Big Bend gets. Which is too bad because it's a spectacular place.
