Rucu Pichincha
Summitted Rucu with three others. A fun climb but be careful if you veer off the main trail as some of the 4th class stuff can be sketchy if it's wet.

Acclimatization Hike of Rucu
Hiked up from the top of the Teleferico. Fun hike to test out the altitude. Enjoyed to rocky summit.

A good acclimatization climb
Nice views from the summit on a beautiful day. Was the first of my three climbs in Ecuador and is perfect for acclimatization before tackling some of the bigger peaks in Ecuador

Rucu
Beautiful views of the Avenue of Volcanos. Had the summit all to ourselves.

Guagua Pichincha
4.5 miles round trip from trailhead to summit at (4781m/15682ft) feet and return. From truck to summit and return took 4 hours. Nice acclimatization hike for Cayambe, Cotopaxi, Corazon and beyond.

Rucu
Short 4-5 hour walk is you take the Teleferico
Boriss Andean - Jun 18, 2011 4:30 pm Date Climbed: Jun 18, 2011
Fast ascent.
Climbed Rucu Pichincha by the Normal Route in 1 hour 10 minutes. (Exactly 2 hours RT). It was a fun run at high altitude.
Got to the summit (4,698m / 15,413 ft.) just when the clouds rolled in but I met with Erik (USA) a fun guy from WY.
Ran back to the trailhead (Teleferico) in a bit less than 50 minutes. I haven't climbed it solo in years.
Mild weather, not sunny and windless.

Fun climb
A fun climb, especially up the knife edge ridge towards the top. Quito looks small from the summit.

Rucu Pichincha
Great way to end the year, got cloudy about 2 mins before the top though
With Gavin.
No views at all...
I'm starting to think come here was a huge mistake, could be at Catamarca with better conditions doing 6000 peaks...

Success on both Guagua and Rucu!
Successful summit of Guagua with Parofes, 1/5. Time to summit, 4000m to 4776m: 2 hours even.
Successful summit of Rucu with Jergen and Peter, 1/4. Time to summit, 3850m to 4627m: 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Yo
3 hours up from the teleferico, 2 hours down. Socked in in fog all day today, and rained off and on. fun enough climb to acclimatize, intereesting little 4th class rocks at the top for a very short section.
PAROFES - Jan 2, 2011 4:30 pm Date Climbed: Jan 2, 2011
It was great!
By the normal route and close to the summit with a funny and easy rock climbing out of the route.
After 4 airports, no dinner last night and no breakfast today...
Quite tirying..but easy.
Great views to Guagua Pichincha!
Note: At the teleferico i measured 3.890 m of altitude (not 4100m) and at the summit of Rucu 4.702 m.
Cheers!

Rucu Pichincha - quick and fun
It was a fun scramble, esp if you veer off the cairned trail and start up the rock close to the saddle ridge. Good stuff!

Rucu Pichincha
Up the direct route and down the normal one, with Boriss and Liesbeth, who we met on the trail.
This was the hardest route I ever climbed free. Later, I found out it was rated III-. Fun climb though, and a great morale booster.

Direct route again!
Rob (HOL), Boris (my son) and I climbed Guagua Pichincha the day before. We saw Rucu in the distance.
Rob (HOL) and I climbed RucuĀ“s direct route along with Liesbeth (BEL). Hanna (SWE) climbed by the normal route alone and waited for us there.
Very nice scramble. Got to the top (4,698 m / 15,413) after two and a half hours after leaving the trailhead.
Met with Hana at the summit and had some snaks for 30 minutes with a Swiss and a Polish.
We got some hail on the way down, but nothing serious.

Guagua Pichincha!
It's been more than a year since I climbed Guagua Pichincha with andreeacorodeanu.
Climbed with my son Boris and Rob (HOL). Perfect weather, just a bit windy at the summit (4,781 m / 15,682 ft). We saw a condor flying a few meters above us.
Very enjoyable climb!

Wow!, missed climbing by this route!. Great weather and nice people up at the summit. Met with Mike (USA), my good friend I climbed Cotopaxi with a couple years ago.
