"Gunsight" Mountain

An airy day

After having driven past many, many many times, I stopped
and found my way up "Gunsight" Mountain. Or UN 4650 at the northern
end of the Las Vegas range along hwy. 93, west of the Arrow Canyon Range, north
of I-15. I include "Gunsight" because a dirt road just north is
labeled Gunsight Mountain road, and the rock has a distinct sight like notch at
its apex. Wonderful hike. no worse than class 3 at any time, but all along the
way once out of the lower washes it had an airy, exposed feel due to the
numerous and ever present deeply incised canyons cutting its faces. Great day
to be out.
