Beautiful!

You had a nice tour there! New snowshoes?

Re: Beautiful!

It's my dream summit (actually 4 of them) - but unfortunately it is so incredibly steep that I don't think I'll ever have the guts to climb it.

Snowshoes - rented. It doesn't pay to buy a pair of snowshoes if you go to the mountains in winter only every four years.

And no - I just have to step out of my hotel - turn left for about 50m to see this view. Have snowshoed to the other opposite side but didn't make it to where I wanted because renting those snowshoes took too much time and I was late ...

Re: Beautiful!

It is a beautiful mountain, maybe one of the most impressive around Oberstdorf, I climbed it from the Hoefats saddle more than 20 years ago in the summer. You are right with it being incredibly steep. Some portions are so steep I had to straddle the grassy ridge. Many accidents happended here when the grass is wet.

Cheers, Guido

Re: Beautiful!

First time I saw it from Älpelesattel in 1996 I simply went dizzy from just looking up the ridge. Today I think I could climb the west summit by this ridge, only there is a short rocky section which will certainly turn me around.

WOW!

Breathtaking shot of Höfats!!! It's also one of my dream summits, but I don't think I'll ever be able to climb it, too :(
I've been to Oberstdorf on Sunday but Höfats didn't look that impressive anymore... Thanks for this remarkable shot! Cheers Lukas

Re: WOW!

Yes, snow is starting to disappear from the south faces. Still plenty around, though. I sat two hours on Riedberger Horn today, just watching the panorama. Sunny, warm, no wind, fog in the valleys, a few cirrus clouds above Nebelhorn and Hochvogel ....

I didn't want to leave ....
