As soon as it thaws . . .

I'll post you a message for climbing at Spire Rock. I usually get at least one good weekend of climbing during the winter when things melt out and get sunny. If not Spire, could you make it as far as Beartrap (Neat Rock) down on the Madison?

not avalanche lake.

this lake is the second lake from the head of huckleberry creek. avalanche lake is the very large deep and boulder surrounded at the immediate base of granite glacier and it's moraine. also a shortcut, in this photo, climb straight up and over the large bulge at the upper end of this lake(cold lake).taking this route brings you out onto a large grassy knoll which then gradually traverses easily the the massive boulderfields on the east side of avalanche lake.
