Havasu  Sucess!

We did this as a three day backpack. I had avoided this place for a long time but decided I needed to see it at least once. We hiked as far as Beaver Falls seeing all of the other falls along the way.

Girls Just Wanna Havasu Fun  Sucess!

Backpacked in from Hualapai Hilltop and stayed three nights at the campgrounds (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Got rained out on Friday, but we hit Mooney + Beaver Falls on Saturday (a few in our group went on to the Colorado, too).

Great trip, but a disappointing amount of disregard for such a beautiful environment by many of the tourists. I was picking up trash all along the 10 mile hike out.

1 Night in paradise  Sucess!

Wonderful  Sucess!

Hiked down and out, stayed 2 nights, went as far as Mooney Falls and the downclimb there is spectacular! Loved the village, found the locals to be pleasant, and loved the mail mule train. We had perfect weather - warm for swimming but cool for the hike out. Also not crowded at all during the week - avoid the weekends and spring break time if you want some solitude.

Havasu  Sucess!

November 24

After waiting around and taking a cave tour at the Grand Canyon Caverns, Shaylee, Kessler, Kimberly and I drove to Hualapai Hilltop to start our hike to Supai. We started our hike at 1 pm and with short daylight hours, we knew we had to hike fast.

We hadn’t need worry though since Shaylee was mad at her brother and would run off ahead. We did the entire 8 miles in three hours.

The weather was perfect and the hike down to Supai was prettier and more interesting than I thought it would be.

November 25

Today was the big one and the day we had all been waiting for. We would hike down to Beaver Falls, visiting all the other waterfalls along the way. Navajo was the first falls and we also quickly hiked to Havasu Falls. Mooney Falls was next and there was where the most challenging obstacle of the hike was. You have to climb through a few tunnels, a ladder and some rock steps to get down a cliff.

On the way down someone coming up warned us not to do it, but it wasn’t bad and the kids had no problem. Below Mooney Falls were four creek crossings up to waist deep and then it was a long streamside hike down to the Beaver Falls area.

After admiring the area, we returned back up canyon and back to Supai, but we stopped to explore several caves along the way.

It was a beautiful day and the scenery was some of the best in the world. We completed 10 miles, but it seemed a little longer with all the creek crossings and obstacles.

November 26

Today we hiked from Supai and back to the rim. The climb out was faster than expected and we completed the 8 miles in four hours. After that we drove to Las Vegas.

Southwest Photography Roadtrip  Sucess!

After visiting Antelope Canyon and The Wave, we hiked down to Supai to partake in the beautiful waterfalls. I didn't manage to hike down to the Colorado River as with my first visit, but it was fun all the same. Our trip out was made more eventful by riding the helicopter ;)

Havasu with the Folks  Sucess!

Cool trip in a very unique place. I liked the pony express mail train with the pack of local dogs following it up and down the canyon every day. Get some fry bread at the bottom before you see the falls.

Beautiful  Sucess!

Beautiful hiking, especially if you follow the creek itself. A little overcrowded and garbage about, but at least the hike in keeps the numbers down somewhat. I also agree that the entry fees are extravagant, but what can you do? Wish I could have seen it before the flooding.

Great Hike  Sucess!

Fantastic hike! There is nothing like hiking all day and then wading into the blue river. One of my favorite places.

Crazy Place!  Sucess!

Got to go on this trip with NAU Outdoors for free and I got a credit for it. A little cold-the water was warmer then the air. Watch out for racoons.

back in the day  Sucess!

This hike was amazing. Getting down to the lower falls was really something special. Kinda sketchy on the way down there, but we had a great time. It was HOT but the crystal blue water could not have been better.

Just in time

I left as it started to sprinkle...the sprinkle that led to the massive flash flood that destroyed everything.

Pretty place, its a shame that better care is not taken of the area. Lots of trash, and poorly managed trails

just as amazing as the first time  Sucess!

Just as gorgeous as it was in 2006. The campground was MUCH cleaner this time - they removed the overflowing trash barrels in the campground so it's now much more clear you need to pack out your own trash. There's still a bit of trash on the trail down to the village, so hopefully people can help clean that up.

We went behind Havasu Falls this time. We didn't even know you could do that until one of the natives did. Great stuff!
