rope?

just curious, why did you decide to rope up? ive seen and heard many people who did this route say a rope was not neccesary. im just wondering because we are doing this route in a few weeks, and are wondering if a rope is really going to be neccesary.
thanks
great shot by the way.

Re: rope?

It was a Mazama climb...
That day a rope was not needed. It was more for snow travel practice, although we were on a glacier with several open crevasses over to the left at the bottom of the runout. Maybe if it were real icy, windy, or if you had someone that was not comfortable with the "self arrest" move, then maybe a rope would be a good idea.
To tell you the truth, I did feel a little silly that day roped up.
Good question!
