Roxy ...I know you don't like to give out too many
details, but was this bear trespassing on
your property?
Sounds like those old "spaghetti westerns"
I used to watch, where the bear gets all the
blame, and revenge always takes center stage.
Hope you're able to work this out in a
peaceable manner.
Do you ever get the authorities involved,
or do you believe in self-reliance and
working out these encounters yourself ???

Re: Roxy ...This particular bear was actually on neighboring property. We have had an abundance of bear in the last few years in our area.
The last two years, we have had bears take out our bird feeders and humming bird feeders right off our deck. My husband did fire a shot at the ground the first time to scare the bear away, just because he wasn't willing to leave on his own accord. That was two years ago, and that bear had been making trouble at several of the neighbors. One neighbor called the wildlife dept. who told her that they would provide rubber bullets to use to scare them off. Don't know if that ever took place.
I have seen tracks (some big, some small) almost everytime I go for a hike, but haven't run into a bear yet. Hope when I do, it is just close enough to get a few good pix. :0)
