Great already

Your TR at the bottom is a good read. I'm looking forward to the finished product!

Re: Great already

Thanks Courtney. I have it more or less done now, but may do a few changes later on.

Re: Great already

I'm looking forward to a trip down this summer. I think I have Tanya convinced and maybe I can finally get some good photos to go along with the description!

Re: Great already

Bo and Courtney, Heaps was in fast shape yesterday, did not have to climb out of anything really except via logs. Bo, Rick and Joe A (who I was with yesterday) said that rap station looked like it did last year when they came in behind the accident. Final theory??? Any explantion why he thought he needed a biner on biner vs using the rap ring? Cheers

Re: Great already

Dow, I think they had set up a contingency anchor/lower off of the first biner. When it was his turn to descend (last) he just undid the munter/mule and used another biner on a clove to block against the first biner rather than re routing the rope through the anchor ring?

red tag permit

We found out that one can't get a red tag permit for overnight trips. Grrrrr. The backcountry desk ranger was just about to write the red permit when he realized our canyon permit was for an overnight trip.

The high was almost 100F in the canyon, so without the ability to start pre-dawn at Grotto, we said F this and started from West Rim with the car shuttle instead.
